I ve got a 3240 rated 27hp at pto. I ve been offered an almost new bush hog 285 (5 feet) for $1,000. The bush hog states it needs a min. of 30 hp at the pto. It is only one hundred pounds more than the bush hog squeler 160 that teh dealer recommended. the specs are in the link below.

Is this going to be too big for tractor? Its such a good deal but i dont want to overload the tractor. any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated

It depends on how you are using it.
What are you cutting?

The majority of the time will be pasture. Occasionally , two or three times a yr I'll cut a small amount of small saplings.

You should be fine. You may have to run at a lower speed under heavy load sometimes, but your ground coverage per hour should be good.
