wanted to get collective opinion of the above cutter on the B1700.

Two issues of concern: 1) weight of cutter is 1,086 lbs. B1700 is rated to lift 1,280 lbs; 2) Cutter manual states tractor requirements are PTO 540 and horsepower 40-75, which my Kubota lacks as it is 17 hp.

Does the diesel make up in horsepower??

Thanks

Cannot answer first part of the question, but I think you are over the edge!

As for diesels and HP - they typically do NOT make gobs of HP - however, they make sh1t ton of torque~!:D:)

You may not even be able to lift it, as the weight is probably farther back than where your lift is measured.

Some people recommend 5hp per foot of cut, but it depends on what you are cutting.

You are not even close on size or horsepower. @ 17hp you maybe have enough to run a light duty 48" and that's questionable in heavy growth.

Thanks for the responses.

I knew I was pushing it but your opinions make it clear that I will be avoiding a huge blunder not to mention safety and potentially damaging equipment.
