Shear Strength,

The snow conditions are ideal for blowing; Yet I'm breaking off shear bolts. I'm switching from the factory recomended Grade 5 bolts I'm now running which have 3 marks or lines on the head that are in the shape of a “Y”. To Grade 8 bolts that have 6 marks on the head and greater shear strength.
I've done this many times before in other blower types I've owned with no problem.

The only problem with that MR.T, is the next thing to break is the gearbox on the blower. Ive done it on my Snapper after I broke all my spare shear pins, but there is a risk.

I have replaced all the 5/16" and 3/8" butter bolts with grade 8 harware on my Jinma as well.;)

Went from replacing about 3-4 each time I cleared snow to maybe once per snow event now.
