80W90 GL-5 will be fine.

No need for lower unit oil.

SDT's advice is always solid.
I honestly pulled mine off the shelf to check my own oil and GL # to make sure I had the correct stuff.....

Agree, 80w90 or 90W.
My new F3990 leaks some lube and it has only 50 hours on it. Real hard to understand why something this new leaks, but I'm using Mobil syn 90W. If it leaks any higher, will look into 90w140

Do you need a special tool to check/change/fill the oil on these things? I poked around and wasn't sure how I'd check it.

To change remove both plugs on the side turn it up on its side and let it run dry. Replace the bottom plug and fill from the top plug until it starts running out the bottom.

I tipped it up on back wheels....and unscrewed the filler screw to drain it out. used the side as a vent. worked like a champ!
