V2203 with flywheel and bell housing removed, what are steps to ensure TDC on number 1 cylinder to start valve lash check and adjustment? Any pics? I have the WSM but I'm not exactly following the steps since they have you look at the flywheel peep hole.

You don't need to have piston at top dead center to adjust lash. You can use the EOIC method (Exhaust Open, Intake Closed). You just need to rotate the engine (by hand) and watch the movement of the valves on the cylinder you are going to adjust. When the Exhaust valve starts to open adjust the Intake. When the Intake valve starts to close adjust the Exhaust.

There are many website and YouTube videos showing how to do this. It's very easy. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gMYWLMAzao

What he said!
You can see them move when you turn the crank, and you can see that the push rod is down. ;)
