Hi all,

What are your thoughts on paint maintenance? Below is a picture of my baby and I was wanting to freshen her up a bit...... Also, i understand, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", but the tires on my 89 are the originals, when should them be replaced? Only if there is an issue, or be proactive?

Thanks

Ron

IMHO if they have tread and hold air keep running them.

Unlike road car or truck tires the safety issue of running old tires is negligible in my mind. Not to say there is not a situation where a catastrophic failed tire on your B8200 could be a safety issue, I think that risk is small and one I would be willing to take.

If you have a good cleaner wax, that will usually wake up tired paint, Mother's makes one I really like and its available everywhere. Klasse AIO is one that seems to work miracles on tired paint but you'll have to resort to Amazon, Ebay or a detailing place to find it. As always, do a little test areas and see if the results are in line with what you are looking for before you commit to doing a whole tractor.

I am thinking about cleaning up the chassis and ROPS paint first..... Great info on the tires and wax.

The tires on my Farmall C are 72 years old and still have the shine on them like the day they were installed. I'm not replacing them. I spray other tires down with John Deere Tire and Rubber Conditioner, and have had good luck with it.

I'm with Ken - If you had to run down the road at 80 mph - it might be different, Hell I would run those till I had to place tubes in them and patch them 5 times! ;)

BTW - nice looking machine
