I'm so excited I can't sleep. Went to the nearby dealership to pick up a Stihl chainsaw, somehow came away with the saw and a tractor. It's a L3901 4wd HST, with SGC0660 Grapple, PD25 post hole digger, RTR1258 tiller, and a RCR1860 brush cutter.

I'm in Cat Spring, TX near the river so the entire 35 acres is nested on sand. We've got a project going to bring a JD 6010 back from the dead to use a larger bat wing shredder. What I needed was something to get under the 120+ live oaks and cedars on the place. Half of the property has been maintained but the other half the yaupon trees are growing straight up into the canopy. The maintained trees dont need much work but I dont have the heart to cut these live oaks high enough to drive a larger tractor under. Otherwise I would have gone with the M7060. The plan is to do a lot of the work myself getting ready to build my house.

I'll be sure to post pics as soon as she gets here today.

Holy Cow, I have never bought a chainsaw and had a tractor thrown in with it. I guess I need to go to Texas. LOL. Enjoy your new tractor and don't forget the pictures.

Welcome to the OTT forum MJ. Glad that you joined with us here.

I have that RCR1860 and have really abused it over the years and it is still going strong. All I have ever done to it besides replace broken blades is replace the discs in the slip disc clutch when they rusted together. It should make easy work of the grass you have.

It's pretty out in the open, but its all milkweeds under the manicured trees and yaupon under the trees in the back 10 acres. Slowly but surely I'll turn it around.

Another reason for going with the L3901 instead of an M: I need te replace 640 feet of the back fence which goes right through a grove. I grew up digging fence post holes by hand (step dad had a $160k horsetrailer, but no post hole digger?), so never again. with the ROPS folded down I think I'll be able to get under almost every single tree back there, and if I cant I've got the Stihl.

Right, I meant when putting the fence in place. If I have to have a tree limb 4 inches above my head I'm okay with it. Some of these limbs are 3 feet in diameter and stretch out 40 feet from the base. Because its all sand if I make them lopsided I run the risk of them falling down.

I know what you mean about digging post holes by hand, that is why I got the PHD also as I have had to replace several post and now putting in a new fence to connect to the barn.

Great looking tractor but it is too clean. Time to take it out and get it dirty working.

The canopy is a Texas made one my dealer stocks from a company called Wells Ag. Been through 10 gallons of diesel so far. It's been doing everything I asked of it.

As for getting it dirty, we've been in a dry spell so shredding leaves us both in a nice layer of dust.

Oh man ! What attachment do you use to turn the world upside down !!?! I know the new rigs are good and strong but it looks like you have the power to rotate the world ! Ok sorry for the less than humourous jokes. I get it now, your in Australia.

Anyways. Nice rig for sure !!

MJ,
Congrats on your new Tractor.

I think you will find that Grapple one of the handiest things you can put on a tractor.
