We had a JD 4110 with double pedals for 10 years and now have a B2650HSDC with the treadle pedal. I have been reversing by lifting up on the treadle rather than moving to the rear of it. I added this piece of wood to the underside of the of the pedal and it is much easier on my ankle. The treadle had 5/8" clearance to the floor when fully depressed so this did not change anything as far as forward movement.

I have the same tractor and use the same technique and it DOES get hard on the ankle when blowing snow.

I just don't have the coordination to get the fine control I need when using the heel side of the pedal.

I'll have to try your modification...thanks!

On bicycle pedals there are cages with straps to help pedal with the up stroke. They could probably be adapted to fit on the tractor pedal.

Newer style pedals are called clip less but you actually do clip into them. Those could work but it would be much more difficult.
