I read some good information on Shear Bolts on the forum. My used (new to me) L5030 Kubota and Pronovost Snowblower are receiving some needed maintenance. The Pronovost is a Puma 74 model and lists the shear bolt as "Shear bolt 5/16" NC x 1" lg grade 2 + nylon locknut". Does anyone know of a source to purchase this item? It does not have a part number in the parts list.

Go to any hardware store to buy these by the dozen for what you would pay for 1 at the dealer. A grade 2 bolt has no marks on the head. Refer to the included chart.

That's just a off the shelf normal 1" long course thread 5/16" grade 2 bolt with a nylock nut.
Like O7wingnut said, go to a local hardware store and buy them by the handful.
They will just be a non labeled silver bolt.

For the blower I had, I bought bolts with the unthreaded portion long enough to go through the shear points. No reason to have the threads effectively reduce the diameter of the shear pin.
I agree with all above. btw I used This online place for almost all my hardware purchases. It was cheaper to get 100 bolts for my blower there than 10 at home depot. The added benefit was they ship pretty much in 1 day. I don't have to plead with a Home depot guy that something showed as in stock in their branch BUT. . . .

a poster here some years back. You may find different that there are
different grades for different parts of the snowblowers drive train.
