So...a couple months ago, I bought a new L2501.

For mowing, though I need something bigger than the lawn tractor I have now, but not as big/heavy as the 2501.

A lot of the area mowed will is 10-12 degrees slope, running down to a pond. I don't think the area is well suited for a zero turn. Some is 20-25 degrees, but a small enough area that can be pushed if need be.

Got about 4 total acres to mow.

I am looking for a used machine....since I just dropped big money on the 2501 (which I really needed that size for site work, road maintenance, etc). I have found several BX2350/BX2360 tractors near me, with 54 or 60" decks, and think it would be a good size machine for mowing duties.

Anything to specifically check on these? Any known issues to watch out for as I shop? Most I have found have around 200-600 hours....a couple in the 1500-2000 hour range.

excellent machines all the way around - check the underside for broken fan before you buy - and get the 60" deck. And if they have FEL ....that will help you up and DOWN those inclines.....and use 4wd ALL the time going up and down.....unless you like changing your pants often!

The 50 series was plastic body and the 60 series was metal, from I had read. Pretty affordable in my area.

If the BX23xx you're looking at has a FEL, make sure the mounting brackets for it that are bolted to the frame are not bent and the FEL goes on and off without any issues. I didn't on my BX2360 and ended up dropping $174 for a new right side bracket on mine to make it right.

Check the front tires for sidewall cracks. My left front has one with a slow leak that I'll need to replace once I grow tired of having to fill it every time I use it. :)

My 2360 has a metal hood and plastic wraparound cowl.

Good luck!
