I have recently purchased a BX2370 and have put the first 10 hours on it. Loving life!

I have been offered a John Deere 450 tiller for free from a friend who inherited it several years ago but just sits in the back of his shop. The tiller appears like it only got used a few times before being put away.

The way I read the specs on the tiller and the way I measure this one the are about 45 inches in tilling width. The specs on a BX 2370 say max width is 42 inches??

I guess 42" seems a tad short when compared to some of the tractors the 450 tillers as been used on for years??

It will work, just go a little slower and don't sink it all the way. ;)

There's nothing wrong with free... If your tractor doesn't have the power or weight, sell or trade the tiller...:D

I use a 48" tiller on my BX25 without any problems. I think the 450 is a perfect fit.

I do believe you are same hp as my BX25, and I have a DelMarino 52"(54" overall) heavily built tiller. My tractor handles it like a dream, I only use approx 3/4 throttle fo get super fluffy soil. First pass is always gentle speed, no more than 2 - 3 inches deep, then go deeper with successive passes.

I think the rule of thumb is 5 hp per foot,, so yeah your good to go,, LIke mentioned slow and easy just an inch or 2 at a tine till you have it kind of dug up them go deeper. Remember roots rocks and stuff is hidden there so slow and easy and you will really love life

I run a 2370 with a 50 inch land pride and it handles it with ease. It just doesn't like being raised up real high but I think that's the PTO doing the complaining. I run about 3/4 throttle, it does great. Is that JD adjustable to one side or the other? Some of the shorter ones do that so it can cover one side of the tracks or get closer to the fence.
