I've see screen doors with less holes!

You've been using it to either mulch rice paddy's :p or you run a salt spray testing company, and this is your test piece!

Oh and BTW good job, I'd be doing the same thing if it were mine!:D

At least the spindle mounts are double plated and in good shape. This is a "new to me" G5200 whose deck had been neglected. It was full of wet debris under the belt covers. The spindles and gear box are in great shape. The idler pulley is stuck, so I will have to replace the bearing. This is for my Grandson who couldn't afford a new $2400 deck or even an $1800 skin, so Granddad gets to do some body work on it. I am trying to get it ready so he and his Dad can help me put it together over Thanksgiving. Most Fathers and Grandfathers know how these "labors of love" go!! I really enjoy restoring old iron.

Dam good idea with the paper templates.

Stole the idea from "tall" Ed China on Wheeler Dealers. It really works well. It is best to run it on the outside of any radius (rather than the inside and come up short). I bent the radius around a 1.25 in piece of solid shaft in my vice and then heated and bent it to fit after tacking the flat area. First timers luck, I guess!

I'm doing a deck right now myself, RC60-71B, must have been the brothers to your deck, the end corner has issues and I just keep building the area up with fresh metal but it just don't look as good as your repairs.

I found out today, that if you are not a good welder, you had better be a good grinder!! I probably ground off more weld than what is left. It was about the same as my dry wall mud ability!! My reel of 0.030 Mig wire ran out, so I grabbed another reel, put it on and started welding again. It didn't sound or look right. I checked the reel again and it was flux core! So I ground everything flat and will start again in the morning finishing the last piece I need to weld in, then pressure wash, dry and coat it with some rust neutralizer before I put the undercoat on it. I don't know if I will have it ready to put back together at Thanksgiving or not. Maybe I should shoot for Christmas!

Got the JASCO Prep and Primer for new and rusted metal on the deck and all its parts last night. Today, they all got Rustoleum Primer and 2 coats of Kubota's Bright Orange II. The surface looks "hammered" because of the rust pitting, but I have done all I can think of to stop the rust!! Another Kubota deck about ready to go back into service next Spring.

I think I will be ready Friday for my Grandson and his Dad to help put it back together. I was able to get the idler pulley bearings locally, so no waiting for parts. The last 6 pictures in the album are the progress last night and today.

You brought life back to an object that many people would have gave up on because of its condition, I just love what you did, you seen in your mind what it would end up as, you did a fantastic job and I'm proud of what you did, I just love orange tractors!

Thanks guys. I really enjoy restoring old iron that was originally designed to have a long life. I am afraid not all equipment is made that way any more!
