Got a new seat for my L2900 (late 90s) for Xmas. The Kubota guy told my wife it was a generic replacement type, and SHOULD fit. The original seat bottom has 4 threaded holes lining up with the holes on the hinges on the seat base. The new seat base has lots of threaded holes all over the places, but only TWO holes match my hinges. So basically, instead of 4 bolts holding the seat on the hinges - I would only have TWO bolts securing it in place. If the attached pics work - the first is the original - the second is the new seat with the matching holes indicated in green.
Has anybody done this - or care to offer an opinion?

Grab a sheet of 11 ga. Steel, drill holes in it to adapt it as an interface between your new seat and your tractor’s base. (Or live with only two bolts holding your new seat.)

It looks like the new seat would be moved a lot farther forward than the old seat using those holes. So if you need the seat back then use some thin bar or sheet to fab adapter as GeoHorn suggested. I agree that 11 gauge (.1196 inch) thick is probably ok but you may need to be concerned if you thread into it, there is a minimal amount of thread and “ham fisted” mechanics will strip threads easily.

My thought was ...if it were me.... I’d drill the holes...then use rivnuts on the topside of the holes...to use bolts to fasten it. Room for the nuts could be made in the bottom of the seat with a unibit.

1/4” plate would work if you wanted to tap threads instead.

At the risk of making your wife mad I would return the seat and buy an exact replacement if available or even find a local upholstery guy who can make a new cover for you, Your old seat pan was metal and the new seat pan appears to be plastic and I doubt it will hold up as long as the original, I tried one of those plastic seats on my B5100 and it broke after a few months

As Johnny Cash sang......"we drilled it out so that it would fit, and a little help from an adapter kit...." :D

How about welding a tab onto each side of tractor mount/hinge and then drill it to hit the wider set of holes on the seat?
