Water pump failed on my L245, worked this afternoon out in the frigid Northeast to get the old one off. Wondering what the trick is to remove the fan and pulley from the water pump. I used my impact wrench to remove the 7/8" nut on front but the pulley and fan don't seem to want to come off. I tried tapping on the pulley with a dead blow hammer and nothing budged. there are 4 bolts on the fan, do those need to come out?
Any suggestions are very much appreciated.

Not familiar with the L245 but I did take a quick look at the on-line parts book. If you pull the four bolts, the fan will separate from the pulley. If you do that, you should have a better shot at using a puller or a press. It is a keyed shaft, so hopefully not tapered.

Without looking your tractor specifically, there are usually 4ea bolts (fairly small) the come out and the fan comes off. Then you can get to all the bolts that hold the water pump on. With the entire pump off the pulley shouldn't be a challenge.

So remove the fan, then the bolts that hold the water pump on, then remove the pump along with the pulley.

Thank you both. I already got the pump off. I will take off the 4 bolts on the fan and hopefully I can get the rest of it apart
Thanks again
