I have a newer L-48 ~2008 ....I live in Wisconsin and we got snow. I have trouble on any slight grade ...turf tires.....there does not seem to be any room for rear tire chains....but every one will sell you some. Can it be done ??

Turf tires give good snow traction, what are you doing and how big is the implement when you are having trouble?

Agreed, never seen an L48 with turfs! Yes you will need spacers as Wolfman states or you can flip the rims to the outside of the hubs if you have a 2 piece rim assembly. When you flip the rims out you will swap left to right keeping tires pointed in the right direction and put the rims on from the outside rather than inside.

Look for Canadian logger chains http://www.canadianchainsusa.com/Inventory/Category/1326/

The studded ones are SERIOUS and will work great in snow, ice, whatever.

You should be able to swap those tires left to right and put them on the outside of the inner hub and gain more width.....

Billdog,
You should note that they are 2 piece rims (center is removable) and look in second pic, they are already dished in and on the inside of the loops on the outer rim.
So no way to make it any wider without adding axle spacers. ;)

Wolfman, it seems you're right! I know the R4's have decent clearance when the rims are flipped to the outside so I was assuming that those on the L48 above still needed to be flipped to the "deeper" side of the rim, but alas it appears spacers are needed!
