The blade support is bent and the bottom seal is leaking and needs to be replaced. I can't find any gearboxes that have this type of output shaft. Do I need to throw this old mower in the scrap metal bin ? Any help would be appreciated. Image1465736892.037697.jpg

What brand is the gear box? You can probably purchase the shaft and seal. Then it would be as good as new.

There are no markings or make on the gearbox and it is aluminum. The big problem is the blade holder is bent. I'm going to attach a picture of the blade holder. Image1465757456.144989.jpg

If you have your own lathe, and welder and cutting torch, you could cut out the center of the blade holder, turn it down, and weld up a new blade holder...

NAH, the price of one of surpluscenter's, or agrisupply's makes that obsolete... You might save the gearbox and holder, if you are of a mechanical bent...

One thing, measure the hole pattern, and ask about it, prior to ordering a new gearbox and blade holder/stumpjumper.:D:D

I used a hydraulic outrigger on a service truck once before to straighten the blade holder , first large rock and I'm right back where I started. Thanks for the replies. I probably need to pull some of those rusty $20's from my wallet and get a new mower. :)
