Hello

I have a 1984 B7200, I was getting ready to do an oil change.
My question is, should I use 10w-30w, or the newer 15w-40w Heavy Duty Valvoline for diesels? I believe the Valvoline 15w - 40w wasn't around in 1984. Oh yeah my outside temp's range from
9 degrees (low) - 112 degrees (high). Any help would be appreciated.

If it were my tractor, I'd be comfortable with either weight. Just make sure that you use a diesel-rated oil- I know you mentioned it about the Valvoline, but I'm not sure what you are refering to in the 30 weight.
I run 15w-40 Rotella in my B7100. That's all it's ever had in it.
And, welcome to OTT!

Thank you Hodge

the 30w was what the owners manual was calling for,(actually 10w-30).
I use the 15w-40 in my truck, and just wanted to make sure I could use it in my Kubota. Also, Thank You for the welcome, this site is very cool.

just make sure the oil has a 'cd' rating somewhere on the can.
most newer oils have a 'cdi-4' rating which is a low ash oil for newer diesel engined vehicles..

Sorry if I confused you- when I refered to 30w, I was just referencing the second number- I knew that you were looking at multi-viscosity.

I belong to two other tractor forums, a dodge diesel forum, and a few others. I would proudly say that OTT is the best of the lot, which is big compliment. There are good folks on the other forums, too. But, I don't feel as close or welcome as I do here. Hopefully you will come to appreciate it as much!
