We never had a tractor with a 3 pt on it when I was growing up (one showed up when I went away to college, though), so my question of the day is..... what do you call the bar that people put in their lift arms that has holes drilled in it for hitch pins, trailer balls, etc?

Are you talking about the 'drawbar' that goes horizontally between the two bottom arms, has pin ends and multiple holes for attaching?

We just always called it a drawbar.

I believe it's still called a draw bar, but for a 3pt hitch vs fixed. So, same name, but different style.

Draw bars are "Old School", if you need something to hitch a trailer to, look for a 3 point hitch receiver, much better design.

If you have a Quick Hitch use this style:

Agreed. The old draw bars I/we grew up with were pretty limited in what they could be SAFELY used for.

We just ordered our BX23S with 54" MMM yesterday and it will be delivered next Wednesday.

I'm planning on ordering a pine needle rake, receiver hitch and a few other items. Since we're only on 2.5 acres here, BX23S should do well. We have hundreds of Ponderosa Pines here. We'll have to see how it fares on our 40 acres back home in MT when we start building the retirement cabin.

Them old no good drawbars are pretty handy when building a counterweight. Put one through a bucket of concrete and you have most of the hookup ready.

The Bx's do really well up here in Idaho, summer and winter, so you'll be good. ;)

I found mine pretty useless, but I bolted a piece of 1 1/2" x 1/2" steel strap from the hitch on the bottom of the diff to one of the holes in the bar; that kept it from rotating, added a hitch ball, so I could at least use it to move a trailer around.

drawbar- pretty obvious- duh on me! When I think of drawbar, I think of something an inch thick (but still with a stretched hole) on an old JD A, 70, or 4020.

Quick attach is on the wishlist- I just can't go spending her money willy-nilly though- and I don't have any to spend!

We (she) have (has) 25A. The BX2200 is smaller than we should have, but it does a ton of work. We cleared 4A in back for reforestation and used it to dig out multi-flora roses there and everywhere else. We use it to mow, which still takes 1.5 hrs. We can't use it to plant food plots, which isn't good. Should probably have something a little bigger and heavier for that kind of work, but then it would be less satisfactory for mowing. Trade offs, eh? I did use it to "plow" the garden with a middle buster. Assume a 1 bottom would have pulled a little easier...

Ah, Sandpoint. Beautiful area. I'm originally from Hamilton, south of Missoula.

Our property is between Columbus and Reed Point.

Wish I could get away and get back home more often. You can take the boy out of Montana, but you can NEVER take Montana out of the boy.
