Hello from Australia - I'm wanting to do a minor service to my tractor before putting it into any hard use

Google has suggested that I should use 10w-30 diesel oil but I can't find that viscosity in any of my local shops (I can find 5w-30 and 15w-40), which do you think I should use?

On that note, is there an archive of older service manuals?

Considering your climate (im assuming) of +20 celcius or warmer 15w40 should be fine. Im my younger years all that was ever available was 15w40. Older heavy equipment around here run 15w40 even through our -40 winters.
My choice for winter diesel oil would be 0w40 full synthetic. My little kubota has a nice warm winter home.

You'll want oil rated for diesel engines if yours is diesel. 5W-30 would be great.

Yep it's a diesel, I'm more experienced with motorcycles and know that you can't use car oil in motorcycles - do tractors need special oil too or do people just use the car oil?

My L1500 calls for the same oil. I went with Delvac 5w50 synthetic rated for diesels in the engine, and Mystic JT-5 in the trans.
