I went and tried that machine. Everything seemed fine. Except one little thing I'm not sure. When I had it in high and pressed the gas it seemed to make a whinning noise and take off fast. I asked him about it. He said I have the throttle too low. It's starving for fluid. I did have the throttle very low. He said you should always run the tractor throttle above 2. He said diesels don't like running that slow. But then I tried a brand new 2301 and it didn't do it. That little 2301 was nice.

Yes older hydros will make either engine or transmission noise when they are not moving enough fluid.
Some of that can be cut down with the used of SUDT2 fluid over standard UDT fluid.
If you by it just do a filter and fluid change after a while. ;)

Thank you wolfman. I new woman from Idaho. When she spoke of it, it was always with fondness. She loved it there. Is it also true that you need to run the engine with the throttle that high?

Not uncommon to have to bump up the throttle in High range to get it to perform properly. ;)
