Just bought a new MX5800. When I got it home I noticed when driving straight, the steering wheel was 180 off. After it warmed up, it was where it should be. Cold it's off 180 again.
Any comments....???

Your MX5800, like most tractors today, has Hydrostatic steering. There is no mechanical connection between the steering wheel and the front wheels. Because of slippage in the hydraulic steering valve the steering wheel will never return to the same position! Customers who install steering wheel spinners really notice this and often find it annoying! It IS the design of the machine and there is no fix for it

Thanks for the quick response. I thought the hydrostatic steering might be the cause, thanks for confirming. And yes, I have a steering spinner. ;)

Does the BX 1860 also have that same kind of steering? I noticed that my steering wheel is almost never centered when driving a straight line. I never checked why, I just learned to live with it.

Yes, BX tactors also have hydrostatic steering and work the same way.

Thanks eserv, Like mentioned earlier, I just got used to it never being straight. Been that way since new and I never thought about it after the first week of ownership.

Re: MX5800 forget steering, think cab.

If you grow tired of the open station environment, check out the Agrital cab, I have some photos of mine posted on this site. Been cold and snowy so far and more than two months of cold left to go.
