I'm going to do the 200 hour maintenance soon on my MX5800. On the HST filter change section of the manual, it tells you to remove three drain plugs from the trans case. About how much fluid will drain out?

On the 400 hour maintenance it shows removal of 4 plugs to change the hydraulic fluid. Is that 4th plug the one that drains most of the trans fluid?

Thanks!

That part of the manual is misleading. You only change the transmission filter out at the 200 hour service. You don't drain and fill the hyro/tranny fluid until 400. So, quickly remove the filter and quickly install the new one. You'll lose a little fluid, and can add more if need be.

X2 on transmission filter only, no draining at 200h. On my past 2 hst kubotas (not MX) I lost maybe 1 or 2 pints tops when changing the transmission filter at 50 and 200h.
My L3410 manual had a similar print error.

Thanks for the clarification. The owner's manual shows that both the HST and hydraulic filters should be changed at 50 hours. I had the dealer do the 50 hour maintenance for warranty purposes and he didn't change the hydraulic filter, only the HST filter.

The Work Shop Manual I have contradicts the owner's manual in that it shows only the HST filter needs to be changed at 50 and 200 hours and the hydraulic filter and fluid only needs to be changed at 400 hours like you guys said.

I guess the WSM would over ride the owner's manual since the WSM is probably what the Kubota dealer mechanics follow. I'll do what you guys do (like what the WSM states) and only change the HST filter at 200 hours and wait until 400 hours for the hydraulic filter.

Thanks!
