I lost out on a box blade the other day and this one just came up close to home for 400.00. It's 20 years old but looks better built than the new king kuttters....notice the extra support on the bottom pins? I'm picking it up Tuesday.

Looks like a nice find. Do yourself a favor and also keep your rear blade. Rear blades and box blades each have things they do well and things that the other blade does better. You will find good uses for both.

Thanks the more research I was doing the more I agree with that statement. 2 different tools with 2 different purposes.

Mega years ago, York, the company that invented the york rake made a rake that had both scarifiers and a drop-down blade on it. It was quite versatile when putting in a lawn. I have one, however, it is sadly in need of some major repairs. Back then they were a small company that used whatever they could find inexpensively to make the product. An example is using the threaded bar stock that is usually bent into a "U" to hold differentials to the springs. Hard to put into words what they were doing, so when I get a chance I will put up some pictures.
