My nearly new M5040 has very slow front end loader action. When idling with nothing in the bucket, it will barely move. With the bucket 3/4 full of dirt or rocks, one must run the engine at 2,000 rpms to lift. Is this normal? Can't get an answer from dealers.

The hydraulics on my own 7040 can be a bit irritating at times. At idle movement is sluggish for sure, just physics at work, pump output and all that. That said the system should be pretty responsive at a fast idle speed (1200 or so) and by 1500 it should be "snappy". I've yet to run my motor at 2000 rpm. If the machine is still under warranty why not just file a service request and have them check it out? If it's not perhaps there is a person here that's more or less local to ya and could give an opinion in person.

I agree with ETRon, if it lifts that slow, something is wrong. The dealer prep mechanic may have even plumbed the hydraulics wrong. I think most tractor FEL will be slow lifting a nearly full bucket at idle. Good luck and let us know what you find out.
