Somewhere out there is my cap/cover to the air cleaner. It fell off, I drove over the inner part of it, but no sign of the outer clover that clips to the front of the assembly. I have walked the field a couple of times looking for it. West KY Tractor parts wants $150 to replace the whole assembly used.

I know I need to replace it, but here is the question: There is work to be done while I hunt that thing down. How much risk is there in driving that tractor without that cover on the air cleaner? Outside of risking something bad cutting a hole in the filter itself, does that cyclone filter work at all without the cover?

If I felt I just had to get some work done with the tractor, I would at least cover the end of the filter canister with an old cotton sock or something like that to work as a primary dust collector. (might even put some oil on the sock material)

I'll look around, it seems I have one of those from something.
