I have installed a bolt on tow hook to the bucket of my BX25. I placed it on the top of the bucket where the bucket pivot point is as it looks much stronger there. I want to install another one at the other pivot point but this is where the level indicator is. My plan is to grind off the level indicator and tack it back on at the center of the bucket. Is there any specific reason why they placed it to the right on the bucket at the factory?

I think it is there so it is more easily seen when the bucket is on the ground.

The engine cowl would block the view if the indicator was in the middle. (Unless you are 10 ft tall. :D )

Check your bucket when it is down to see where it is best to move the indicator so it is visible at all times.

What GWD said - seeing it would be harder in the middle.

Mork, I recently installed a set of Ken's Bolt-On Hooks with clevis loops beneath them on the FEL on my own BX25D. I was also concerned about placement with regard to that level indicator. I ended up mounting the hook on that side just inside of the level indicator, butting it up against it. I think in Ken's instructions he suggests mounting it to the outside of that level indicator but I don't recall now. My reasoning for going inside was that I don't feel that I'll be lifting so heavy as to compromise the FEL--keeping in mind it is a sub-compact and doesn't have as high a rating for lift capacity as a larger model. I believe his instructions are all online on YouTube and also on his website, so you might want to look there first and do some research before cutting that indicator off.

Just wanted to confirm that Ken does suggest mounting on the OUTSIDE of that level indicator. He has the Kubota installation video up on his website.
