The L4630 rear window damper (or gas strut) is $57 but non-OEM replacements are available at $15.50.

I have found the correct length, stroke and configuration but don't know the strength rating. It comes in 10 lb. increments from 20 lbs. through 80 lbs.

Need some engineering thoughts here on how to determine strength required? Maybe remove lower bolt and rest the strut on a scale with window open?

At that price, buy 4, try 'em out, 1 at a time, and return 3...:D

it's not the weight of the glass, it's how much force it takes to open that glass. ;)

If you had one good strut you could use that to measure.
You could shoot for the middle and maybe get lucky.
