Just trying to get an idea if $7000 is a decent price for a L355SS. Tractor seems to run well with no leaks. Hour meter only show 650 and still works. Appears to have John Deere rims on the back. It will need new tires in the front before too long. That price comes with box blade and a six foot bush hog that needs some welding around gear box.

Thanks for the help,

Larry

Feels high for a 30+ year old weather beaten gear tractor. $5k feels good.

But, I try not to buy things based on feels.

If the mower is in good enough condition to mow, that and the box blade are worth $1000. The L355 is a work horse, nearly bullet proof.

I always try to buy something just a bit less than the asking price, just my nature. It gives me a bit to fix/repair something I didn't catch right off. However, if you're needing a tractor of this size, with the implements it's probably a fair price. Trying to find a loader for one will cost 2K, and they're difficult to find. This one is there and attached and working, just another plus.

I follow 'Cat's methodology, but I'm just plain cheap. It's why I seldom buy stuff at auction...even when I should.

But, as Cat said there's $3-4k in attachments, between the FEL and implements. So....is the bare tractor worth $3-4,000....probably not.

I'm at $4,000-5,000. Cat is the Master Negotiator, and I think he would agree that a low-ball on a good tractor might piss off the seller, which is not a good spot to be in either.

Bottom line is you need to make sure it's a good tractor.....and maybe skim some $$ of his asking price.

I bought a L355ss 2 years ago from a dealer. it was a trade in from a local high school maintenance department that took excellent care of it. I paid $4,500 for just the tractor with 2300 hours on it. I basically use it for bush hogging and it runs fantastic and haven't had any problems.

Yeah the fellow I am looking at purchasing from is a co-worker. He has it listed at 8k so he already has come off 1000. I've been trying to find better deals. I just don't see them. I recently purchased a house on 23 acres. So I have been looking at this size tractor. There is not anything around me for under 15,000. Property is a big hill so 4X4 is a must. I also am remodeling the house, so I can't spend all of my money on the tractor. Thanks for the advice.

Nice property!

Prices do vary widely in different geographic areas.
