Looking for any ideas on why the hydraulics for loader and backhoe just quit. Tractor drives fine. Pump is spinning (at least when viewed externally). Fluid level perfect. No leaks anywhere. New filter. Backhoe couplers unobstructed and definitely attached. I heard a squeal coming from area of pump when problem originally started that has since gone away. Removed inlet hyd. hose from loader control, started tractor, nothing. Have read numerous accounts on internet and TF and have come up with nothing. Keep hearing about the relief valve. Cannot find one in any of my parts illustrations. Would love to hear from the experts. Thanks

2grit, what were you doing when it quit? Or did you just get on one morning and the hydraulics wouldn't go?

I was doing no work at all. Just driving up my driveway and heard a noise from the front and hydraulics were gone

2grit, as you probably know, an L35 has 2 hydraulic pumps. One for the FEL,
BH, & 3pt. The other powers the power steering and glideshift transmission. From your description, I believe the PS & GST work fine while the other 3 functions do not. I looked at mine and that pump runs off the end of the crankshaft. From what you've said, I believe you have a pump that has locked up and probably sheared one of the shear keys in the pump. I don't think the relief has anything to do with it. The fact that you got no oil when you disconnected the hose and the input shaft from the crankshaft is turning leads me to believe your problem is in the pump. Let us know what you find and Good Luck!

Just finished pulling the pump. Pump shaft splines mate with coupler splines which were completely sheared. Explains the squeal I heard. Glad to have found it without a ton of looking. Thanks a lot for taking the time to look into it. Rob

You are welcome and glad to do it. I'll let you return the favor sometime. Can you tell why those splines sheared? You don't expect something like that to happen out of the blue. I'm curious and maybe it will help me either prevent it from happening to mine or give me a leg up if it does the same as yours.
