Hi all...noob to this forum, but not so much to Kubotas. Guess I'm just looking for some thoughts on a strategy. I'm on lots of forums and hate the open ended "what should I do?" posts so here's my must-haves (if it's not listed, it's a nice-to-have):
Must-Haves:
- Frame size in the "L" category (either older or new L-series)
- 35 ish hp
- Loader with at least 1,500 lifting capacity
- Capable of running a frame-mounted backhoe that can actually do work
- 4WD
- Pre-emissions
- Good remaining life expectancy (not buying a rental unit or something with 4k hours)
So I find myself looking at two categories of tractors. Late-model L3400 - L4600 and 1990s-era L2850 - L3450.
The former is going to set me back 20-25k, the latter is half that but typically have well over 1k hours.
Obviously so much depends on what the PO did with the thing, but what do you guys think. Should I be scared of something like this:

I'm not rich, but I can afford to go either route. One just leaves me with lots of $$ left over.
