L185 seat pan issues

I pulled the seat of my 1980 L185 and was really disappointed to find the high level of rust rot where foam met the pan. A lot of rust was stuck to the foam, and rust has almost completely eaten through to the pan's underside. No telling how many wet days my tractor sat in the rain before it came to me in 2004. pretty severe cracks either side of the hinge folds underneath and rusted almost through. Kinda seems dangerous to me in that if it breaks through, I could end up dumped backwards into whatever I'm towing or that's hitched up.
I'll start looking around for a replacement. Anyone have good results with a particular aftermarket seat and padding set? Thank you. Don.

That's not that bad, clean it, weld it, and spray some Rustoleum on it and your good to go! ;)

Gravity is a law and I obey the law. I'll get a sound seat pan. I don't trust welded rust! Don

Daren that's sure kind of you. I'd love to see pictures. I'm 300 pounds and 6 feet 5 inches tall. Because of my size I do need a stout pan. I will PM you my email address, and thanks again. Don Sterchi

Don, here's what you need.

Put this on my B7100. If you get tired of mowing you pull under a tree and take a nap!

Seriously - nice seat - where you get it ? Have to do any mods to get it to work right?:)

Wow now that's a seat. Pull it into the living room and relax in front of the tube! Don

Looks like what they put on the BX-70 series...close to what is on my BX25 and it is might comfy. I have yet to take a nap but might have to this weekend!

The seat was in pretty good condition, but the whole tractor was in rough condition! Engine had head off, no radiator...many unknowns.

When I got the engine running and it seemed like it was a "keeper" I decided to splurge for a seat. Got this one off of ebay, but it was located in KC so I think the freight scared off many bidders. It was a freight insurance sales place.

85Hokie, I did some modifications but not much. It won't slide as far back at it is designed to do (because of ROPS), but still have good movement. Not a big or complicated task.
