Kubota ZD221 Replacing Rear Hydraulic Oil Seals, Bearings

I recently noticed that both rear seals were leaking on my Kubota ZD221. I ordered the replacement inner and outer bearings, hydraulic oil seals and external snap rings. Disassembly was relatively easy except having the rear brake rod in the way. It took a couple of knocks against the rear axle assembly to get it to turn loose as there was a white silicone looking gasket material between the main housing.

My question, what is this gasket material (assumed to be a white silicone)? I want to put the right gasket material when I reassemble to prevent leakage and that that will stand up to the operating temperature ranges. Please advise.

Tommy, I noticed same problem on my ZD221 yesterday, I knew I had a slight leak, just wasn't sure where exactly. How did this go for you? Expensive? Or extensive? Not sure how I feel about diving into the axel. Mine appears right rear only.
Thoughts?
