I'm looking at a ZD 331 with a 72 deck... Dealer also has an additional deck for sale, but it's off a ZG ... Model rck60p-327z... It looks the same as the ZD 72 ... Will it fit

Can't the dealer tell you? Why do you want a second deck? If the dealer is selling it to you and says it fits, make sure they fit it up and you check and test it first.

Sorry... I don'twant a 72 deck.. too much of a risk of scalping my "golf course" lawn... second...he's not a Kubota dealer... he's a used equipment dealer. He says it's off a ZG 327....and is selling it to fit a zg327. he wants $500 for it, and OBTW... its new old stock. It's worth every penny, but only if it fits...

He's asking $10k for a ZD331 450hrs with grass collection system and the hard hopper

his idea is to make a few hundred dollars per sale instead of thousands... he has no overhead and sells a tonof stuff, sometimes stuff comes and goes in the same day

I think you are going to have to test fit the zg deck. I mow 10 or so lawns with a zd331 72", and don't have a problem avoiding scalping. I do have to be carefull around bank crests and ditch lines though.
The 72" deck saved me almost 48 hours of seat time in one season alone, over my zd326 60" machine.
FYI I paid $9500 for the zd331 with 500 hours, no collection system. 10k for 100 less hours and the collection system seems like a good deal.

The decks are different. Gearbox is different for sure, since the gas engine turns 3600 RPM and the diesel version only 3000 ish, so the gear is going to be a little different. I don't know about the mounting points, width, length, pin size, etc. so I can't comment on that.

If they were the same between the two, kubota wouldn't have designated 2 different model numbers. They, like many manufacturers, prefer to use one part instead of two if possible.
