Hoping everyone who was in it’s path or still is it’s path, is safe. Prayers for all that are affected by it.

My late American Aunt Mary lived in Frostproof,FLA (yes, it's a real place). Looks like Ian went through there....dang, most of Florida. Be interesting to see pictures of Disney and more importantly the 'exotic animal farms' and the orange groves.

I was wondering how this storm would affect orange and orange juice prices.

Was just reading a news article and Lee County Sherriff is reporting deaths in hundreds. I pray that he is wrong. Makes the price of orange juice seem a whole lot less important.

The sheriff of Lee County, Florida, told "Good Morning America" on Thursday morning that deaths from the storm in the area were in the hundreds.

"We have fatalities in the hundreds," Sheriff Carmine Marceno said, although noting he couldn't confirm specific numbers.

really ? 'hundreds of deaths' ?? if so, they'd be stacked up like cordwood ,here ,there, everywhere.
just think of them as sheets of plywood. If laid out on the ground, 100s of sheets of plywood take up a HUGE area

“This could be the deadliest hurricane in Florida’s history,” President Joe Biden said Thursday. “The numbers are still unclear, but we’re hearing early reports of what may be substantial loss of life.”

Report from CNN.

My guess it will be weeks before they get close to an accurate count.

My daughter and family live east of Sarasota, about 20 miles inland. Lots of wind and rain, one tree in front of the house blown over, but no other damage. They never lost power, but (gasp) internet service has been out since yesterday evening. Was able to text and call her today.
Many people close to or on the coast aren't so lucky. Thoughts are with them.

Thankfully so far in the news they are reporting only 10 confirmed deaths. That is better number than what was being reported yesterday. Hopefully the number will stay low.

IF you're even THINKING of ANY 'home renovation' or buying a new/used car, BUY NOW !!!
Between Fiona and Ian, there are 10s of thousands of families needing a building supplies, HVAC, water heaters, wiring, drywall, roofing, carpet, TVs, computers, and of course a dry ride.
There is NO way manufactuers can supply even 10% of the HUGE demand for these goods, now let alone before next year.

Good friend owns a condo on the water at Sanibel. It is gone. There is nothing left of it. $5M property, gone. He's devastated, but insured as best he could be, so they'll probably rebuild. We were supposed to be there on the week of the 23rd, obviously that's out. Have to work with them to get refund. It's a lot of money for us to spend on a vacation so I need that back, shouldn't be a problem I'm told.

The sanibel causeway is broken in 5 places and there is no access to/from the island. Many stayed through the storm. My friend was one of them. He's fine physically but mentally is tore up. His favorite place in the world. He got back to Ft Myers by helicopter, it's the only way. That or boat and there is so much damage to the local boats and marinas that finding one that still works is tough.

I'm happy he's OK, hard to believe he got ANY insurance being in a 'hurricane zone' or whatever it's called.
Only saw one 'missing slab' on the bridge...yeesh FIVE though , ain't no easy way to repair that.
My late Aunt lived in Frostproof,FL. kinda wondered if it survived. She always said if 'water ' got to her house the rest of Florida would be in worse shape.
