Well then I am afraid to asking what creating the shadow in the boat pic. šŸ˜‚. I hope that a cigar.
Hunt one night, fish the next day, excuse me, catch fish the next day and Iā€™m at work. I feel like I have been given the finger. šŸ˜œ

I will be joining those ranks soon. Good luck! Whoops, continued luck!

Caught 5 Reds, 3 were keepers. I released them all back. I have plenty of Redfish in the freezer, I was after trout and the 2 schools of trout I encountered were all undersized. I caught one nice trout further down the island, but he threw the hook as I was putting the net down in the water. Overall, it was a great day out on the water.

Heard redfish are great eating. Know we have quite a few folks in redfish territory here on OTT.

Rare catch from the cold fresh waters of upstate New York...

What kind of trout were you after?

Looks like a great 24 hours between land and sea. (y)

Trout and flounder are my favorites, Reds come in 3rd.

1 hour fron the farm to the coast(inland bay systems) for some good fishin spots. ~90min away from TX gulf beaches.

We will probably stay the night, we know a good Airbnb host that hooks us up down here.

Nice. I've caught flounder on party boats out of NH/Maine coast. Family vacation we took years ago when kids were young.

Speckled Trout regs look much tighter than before.

Haven't hunted or fished in years. Enjoyed them much. Got away with family, job, etc.

I need to make time to get back to them in retirement, which is looming after 37 years

I hope to have time to "Fiddle Fart" on the farm.....;).

Nice find for sure! It's a shame the meat was wasted, but it is what it is, and this stuff happens. I'd save the scull and horns for sure ... why not? Prolly a 3 year old for sure.

Daughter and prospective son in law were out on Monterey Bay today with their small fishing boat.

Came across a pod of Killer Whales. Seals and dolphins were the prey.

Regulations say they canā€™t get near the whales, but this was a time the killer whales got near the kidsā€™ boat.

Canā€™t post the video, but hereā€™s a screenshot. Daughter took the video from the deck of the boatā€¦.real close.

Well, that white bearded fat man that wears a red suit didn't bring me a thermal scope for Christmas. I didn't get any black coal for the grill either.

I noticed this dude came out yesterday during daylight hours on the cell camera, hoping to drop the bam hammer on him this evening.

Do you process the pork for the freezer? It looks like a good eater size.
Except that's a big boar, those become yote and buzzard food. I only keep and clean sows, piglets and juvenile boars not much more than 100lbs.

Do they become tuff at that point? I would think ground pork or sausage would be a good use for the meat. Not familiar with them here in Wi.

It's called boar taint, googly it, it has a foul smell and taste, I just don't mess with the big boars anymore, not worth my time/energy. I have cleaned some in the past, they didn't have the smell, but they did have the foul taste after cooking and it wasn't too pleasant.

At first I thought there is a whole hog why would anyone be worried about eating the taintšŸ˜‚ā€¦so I googled itā€¦seems pretty nasty. Do anything with the tusks?

I'll collect them if the yotes don't run off with heads. The cutter teeth are hollow.
Thanks for the information. We buy whole pigs all the time. Never knew about the taint issues with wild pigs ... tasty.... not!

So I stayed late in the blind last night, the boar came out and all I could see was a hog blob of an object in the scope. Well I hit him, not sure if it was a fatal shot or not, cause there was not much blood to speak of. Tracked his trail through thick brush and he left my property. Guess we will see of he shows up again. Hopefully he died elsewhere, lol.

Unloaded this steel plate I got from work. It was going to the scrap dumpster. I took 1 look & said, ā€œNo way, those are shooting bench topsā€. 1ā€ thick & about 375lbs. so some over kill, but will work great. Iā€™ll make a base & seat with fork pockets, to support the tops. Another project, but a fun 1.
