Went to look at a friends B2620 this weekend. He bought it used and the hydro pedals do not neutral (center.) Everything moves freely. So I removed that HST damper, the thing that looks like a shock with the rubber boot over it. (part # 6C350-4335-0)
Is this part supposed to center? When I push his in, it stays in. When pulled out, it stays out.

It's all I can see that would be holding the pedal applied, unless there is an internal issue?

The other rod for the safety switch isn't holding it.

Thanks.

The damper does not do the centering, it just Dampens the movement of the pedal, Buffers it to make it smooth and not too quick to move.

You need to check all of these parts as they are the centering setup.

If the pedal just moves back and forth with no centering at all, I would look at # 20, #70, and #170 (loose #170 will make it not center ever).

Thank you NI Wolfman. I'll tell him not to order one yet until we look at it again.

They want $115.64 for that damper here.

Appreciate the help!

If you get stuck, take some pictures of the linkage, maybe something will jump out at us! ;)

Wolfman's right, the damper doesn't do the centering.

It has balanced gas pressure in both directions at once. The usual mode of failure is one side leaks out its pressure and the other side extends. If yours acts balanced it sounds ok.

I wouldn't say it's balanced. If I push it to either side it stays there. You have to pull it back.

My B3200 pedal damper is doing the same thing. With the damper removed, the pedal snaps back to center/neutral quickly from reverse or forward position. Could this be a bad damper?
