How do they get 39HP from the same engine as the 33HP (3301)has in it?

I didn't see any differences in the specs. bore and stroke.

Several ways,

Run it up a couple hundred RPM's - to hit more HP - to a point
Inject more air into the system, aka - turbo.
Change the injection portion a bit. Little less/more fuel per cycle
Change the timing of the injection via a computer chip.

So it would not take a bunch to make a 33HP a 39HP tractor?

I didn't see in the lit where a 3901 had a turbo either.

L3901 is not turbocharged. The HP difference is in the injection and the injection timing; all done by the ECU just like the modern diesel trucks. There are two separate programs for the ECU's. One is for the L3901 and the other is for the L3301. You can't reprogram a 3301 ECU with the 3901's program. Already tried. The computer won't take it, dumps an error and stops you from proceeding. I wonder if a L3901 ECU would physically plug into an L3301 tractor? That I have not tried. Those ECU's are expensive-at one point they were in the $3000 range, but I think they've edited some of the pricing.

Are referencing the L3901? If so actually it's rated at 37.5HP

Pat
I see that same thing so many times and this is the exact response I always think of. Lol, kinda stupid on kubotas part for calling it an L3901 when realistically it should have been called an L3701 to keep the HP rating as the first two numbers like the other three standard L series.

The same motor is in some Kubota Powered Generators with a Turbo that make almost 59HP :) Me being Me may pursue this when the warranty runs out and the Tractor is paid off, I cant leave anything alone, and certainly not HP on the table..... Lol
