Help with V1305 floor start

Hey guys, I'm trying to start a V1305 that used to power a genset in a boat. I have 12 volts to the fuel pump and have bled it up to the IJ pump. I have 12 volts to the fuel shut down, as well as pulling it out to confirm it was pulling back all the way when 12 volts was given.

I have a feeling it's something to do with the lever on the right of the picture, as the one on the left is speed control. I cracked the IJ pump lines at the pump, but can't get fuel to dribble out while cranking.

I'm starting to get a little frustrated....

Have you tried tying the lever on the right side in the up position? Since the throttle is locked at this point I'm thinking there isn't many other options.

One thing I have run into on some of those fuel solenoids. When installing, it's pretty easy to bend the tip. Then it's no good ;) I might have done that once or twice.

Since it's the style that pushes the fuel rail to shut down the unit. You can always remove the solenoid. And then try to start the unit to see if your getting the IP to spit out fuel. If you get it running, you can always move the fuel rail with a screw driver to shut it back down.

Wait, I have 12 to the solenoid thinking it would let the fuel go through. You're saying it's the other way around?

You were correct in your first post. The ones I have replaced on the d905 and d1005 engines in my light towers, the solenoid didn't actually attach to the fuel rail. It had a little plunger that retracted when 12 volts were engaged. The fuel rail was spring loaded. Retracting the plunger by applying 12 volts allowed the fuel rail to move to the "on" position. Removing the solenoid also did the same thing.

Removing 12 volts allows the plunger to push back out. Moving fuel to off position.

Personally, I would wire up the lever in your picture, and see if your injection pump starts putting fuel to the injectors, before messing with the solenoid. The motor is probably used in other applications besides Gen sets, so it may have come with a manual shut down lever.
