Exhaust pipe comes out on the left side and faces front at about a 45 degree angle. It's rather short.

Has anyone tried to add an extension to keep some of the fumes and occasional smoke farther from the operator?

I occasionally get some smoke on start up, especially when it's cold.

I used some 1 1/4" sink drain pipe to reroute the exhaust on my B2650. The factory exit location coated the FEL in soot, so a small angle change cleaned that up!!

At the risk of being pelted with tomatoes, I could point out that the tractors with dpf filters don't get soot on the tractor or in the lungs of the operators....but I wouldn't do anything like that :p:cool:

Paul Short has a video on an extension he did on a B2620.

"At the risk of being pelted with tomatoes"

could we change that to rotten tomatoes? Naw, not gonna throw nuttin! ;):)

When I crank up my 1990 B7100 - I have to start it and leave the shed! It would kill a DPF quick like and in a hurry!

On my B2650 I had a 18" length of exhaust pipe bent at a 45 degree angle. I believe it was 1 1/2" pipe. Cut and trimmed it to run the exhaust out between the loader arm and in front of the front tire. Put a sheet metal screw in the bottom where you dont see it to secure it. Doing it this way and not pointing it at the ground it keeps the dust from blowing all over and keeps it off of the back of the bucket and loader arm. It has been on for over 250 hrs this way and has worked very well. No more soot. The piece of pipe with bending was $7.00.

There have been times, in very dusty brushhogging situations, where I've wondered if the exhaust could be rerouted just enough to create an 'air curtain' in front of the grill and keep the air holes from getting clogged with grass. It's probably a long shot but it seems like even a little bit would help. I'd think the routing could be done so that the exhaust isn't getting sucked right back in the air intake.

I've been in conditions where I couldn't run for 45 minutes without having to stop and clean out the radiator. This was a no-buckle, loader-arms-up, situation so it wasn't that the bucket was kicking up all kinds of grass. I try to mow perpendicular to the wind (not too many completely calm days in OK) but sometimes that's not an option.

Whatchya think?

Here comes a tomato ;)

Tractors with DPF filters don't get soot because most of the time the're sitting at the dealer waiting to be serviced due to regen errors :)

Wondered this myself as I just purchased a new B2601 with FEL, Backhoe, Forks this year to replace a 33 year old Mitsubishi Beaver III. I found the pipe below on Amazon (Camco 44862 8" 30 Degree EMT for Gen-Turi Generator Exhaust System) and it fit great! $12. Hope this helps. Tractor exhaust 1.jpg

Thought I would resurrect this thread to show how I finally resolved my soot on the FEL problem.

1.25 inch stainless flex pipe joined to the original exhaust pipe with a 1.25 inch piece of antenna tubing. Cut a three inch piece of the tubing, slit is down the side and worked it into the original exhaust pipe then slid the flex pipe over the other end and used a clamp to secure it. I also used a short metal screw to secure the end in the original pipe. Extension is about 18 inches long.

Works very well.

That is a good fix. I couldn't find any pipe other than the flex in a 1 1/4 size. Does the B2601 have a larger diameter exhaust pipe?

I have an L35 and it has some hours, so the old pipe just dumped above the tire flared forward. It rusted out and I got a sweep 90 from Autozone and welded on. It dumps now just above the tire and I think I might use your idea to add a small angle to point it forward.

BX2230 exhaust extension.. This one is removable as that is required to get the engine shroud off.

The section cut from a 1 1/4" diameter 90 degree conduit bend is held on by the stainless steel bolt shown. The tip of the bolt was ground into a point that mates up with a small hole drilled into the original Kubota exhaust.

To put it on, slide it over the original exhaust lining up the bolt with the hole, tighten the bolt just enough to lock it in place, then tighten the second nut to lock the bolt in place..
