Plan to put one of the 12v ones on my new tractor, I am remote enough that airtags wont work. Or I don't want to rely on that tech, farms are too remote to get w/i 33 feet reliable

What are folks using?

something like this trak-4

Any that have 'plans' means they KNOW where your tractor is. READ their 'Terms of Use', especially the fine print. The car insurance OBD-II plugin for cheaper rate deal alllows them to SELL your info to anyone they choose.
yeah I'm 70 and cynical ,but really, read the fine print before you buy.

None of these tracker will prevent theft of your tractor. It's easy to haul it into an enclosed trailer and poof, tractor is now MIA.

Consider making it harder for the thieves to drive your tractor away. Simple stuff like remove battery or primary fuse, remove a front AND rear tire, sit on blocks, put note on it saying' plug BOTH GD tires buy more wheel nuts'. Drop loader to ground, same with 3PH blade. Put on blocks and remove valve stems from the other 2 tires. Essentially you want to make it a real PITA for them to steal it. OK, so YOU have to spend an hour to get it 'up and running' but... at least it's still there.

All 'trackers' consume a lot of power and the more 'pings' the less time the battery lasts, even less in winter ( below 50*F )

Buy (and attach) a post hole digger and drill the deepest hole it will bore. Leave the bit in the hole. Remove a fuse. Cover it with a camo tarp. There are no easy answers, be creative.

or drain the oil and coolant out of the tractor(remember you did this...) so when bad guy steals it,engine locks up when he goes to use HIS new toy.

And you still have your home owners insurance if it was on your property.

I use a locked barm and keep my machine out of site.

If someone is serious about stealing your machine it will be dragged onto a flat bed in a few minutes and it's gone. Pros have no need to waste time trying to start it.

That's what insurance is for.

The best thing would be to jump the "seat safety switch" and wait for them to post a "My tractor won't start" thread here.
