Found a B8200 with loader and 4520A backhoe, seems to start, run and work good, unknown hours or year, good tires for $3800, is this a fair price? It is 4 wheel drive.

I think if it looks good and works it's a good deal for that price. Good luck

NAw that's awful.......I'll give you 3900 for it. :D
I agree with the Nut, but I'm feeling more generous; I'll give you your $3800, plus 200 bucks for your pain and disappointment.

Is the machine HST? Power steering?

With unknown hours and unknown maintenance its a little scary, but Kubotas are pretty durable.

With a good usable backhoe and loader, that machine should be worth at least double what you paid.....

It is gear, no power steering. I talked with previous owner (local school), he said it was a good machine, just bought a new one. Checked with Kubota and they said it was first sold 11-1984. Ended up giving $3500 for it. Been checking it out pretty good, needs the pins and the wallowed out holes on bucket fixed. Backhoe works good, not sluggish. The backhoe is frame mount with separate pto pump, fluid looks and smells like ATF, trans fluid is dark (?) and I am going to change it, but the loader works good. Tires are around 60%, all the linkages for controls, steering and everything else are good. Brakes and clutch feel good, Fwd works, motor sounds real good, no leaks anywhere except a couple cylinders on hydraulics have very minor seep, all the lights even work. Thanks everyone, maybe I finally got a good deal.

No doubt about it, you got a very good deal -- even if you had to totally rebuild those cylinders, you got a very sweet deal!

I'm very happy for you, and glad that you bring such happy news to the forum.

I was talking on the phone today with the person who did maintenance for the school and he said they had all the manuals and books for the loader, tractor and backhoe and he would mail them to me. He did not know why the hydraulic fluid was dark, he said it had not been changed in the last 4 years, did not know before then, said he had just replaced the alternator in the last month and the tractor was being used right up to the time the dealer came and got it and left the new one. Would try to send maintenance records also. Maybe I finally got lucky.
