Seems loud to me. Tractor has only 200hrs. I figure straight cut gears?. Fluid level OK. No jerking or jumping out of gear. Is this normal? Have not contacted dealer about it. I can live with it - - just wanna know? Tks

Outboard drives are helical far as I know. Mine is silent but I dumped the SUDT at 50 hours and went to 80-90 GL5 gear oil. I shock load my front drive quite a bit and I figure the 80-90 provides better boundary lubrication.

Only noise I have is gearbox whine at road speed in 12th high.

Maybe someone has some insight.

I test drove a 2018 MX5200 this past summer with a manual gear transmission before buying a new MX4800 HST. It also made noticeable noise during operation, especially at lower RPMs. I just attributed it to having gears. Nice machine.

Every one of the gear drive MX's I've been on are noisier than I like. HST's are quieter. Probably one reason we don't sell as many gear drives.
