EGR Valve Testing

Some fear mongering on another site alluded to the potential for the EGR valve to fail and remain fully open constantly and allow an excessive volume of exhaust gas to damage combination components ?

Now, with concern , how can the valve be tested? Is it operated by an electric solenoid? I do not have a DPF but it is an EGR engine, Interim tier 4, in the MX-5100.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

Unless I'm missing something there is no EGR on the MX5100's.
The MX5200's were the first to get an EGR of that series.

That will teach you to go to another site! :p :D

It's amazing how a little misinformation can get things all messed up in one's head, I've had it happen to me many a time.

Your lucky enough to have an older tractor with really only one emissions device, the crankcase breather, and that's a very simple device.

A computer does not control the engine, it's almost all mechanical, so much less to go wrong. ;)
