Hi,
Fairly new SCUT owner and at the point where I'm starting to grease the tractor.

I have a BX23S and for implements that need greasing (aside from those standard on the tractor) a mid-mount mowing deck, grapple, and rotary cutter.

I did get a basic grease gun from the dealer but considering the Dewalt cordless grease gun, just not sure the cost is worth my usage with the equipment I have.

Anyone have this grease gun and what are your thoughts on the cost to benefit for my level of equipment?

Thanks,
Kirk

This is your only tractor? Do not waste your money. Buy a Lock-n-Lube and use the hand grease gun that you have.

I'll go third on the lock and lube - perfect solution to a messy job, almost fun to do with the L&L

One thing to remember is to clean the Zerks BEFORE you shoot them.....

20+ years ago Lincoln was about the only brand of grease gun - talk about lazy people. Now almost everyone who makes cordless tools has one. Bought 12v Milwaukee gun and added lock & lube. Later bought 20v DeWalt gun added the L&L. DeWalt is heavier, has LED in head, makes buried zerks easier to find.

Now with 2 guns I load the red Milwakee with the red high temp grease for pto shafts and mower deck greasing. The DeWalt has regular grease for everything else.
Milwaukee also makes a nice 12v caulking gun. Guess I'm now one of the lazy people.

Yes, you would like the grease gun. I have the DeWalt and the Lock-n-Lube. Almost makes greasing fun.

Can you save money with a manual grease gun? Yes, but you could of also saved money by using a shovel and not a FEL. :)

PS-I have one tractor, my dad has four tractors, and I end up greasing them all with the DeWalt grease gun.

Have had the DeWalt with the lock and lube for three years now. Love it, wouldn't be without it. At my age I'm entitled to get a little lazy.

Total waste for me, don't need no stinking battery operated grease gun. I have an ARO air greaser with a 50 foot hose, sits on a 150 pound grease drum. No messy cartridges to deal with.

Since I committed to the Dewalt 20v system it was an easy decision for me to get the grease gun. I just find it easier to do a good job with it and at my age easier = good

I'm in the Makita system, I see they announced a grease gun but no word on a date.

I'm going to stick with the manual gun for now with the Lock N Lube and when the seasons change and I'm using the tractor more I might look at the Makita if it's available since I would only need the tool.

I was just looking at the Lock n lube stuff...

Is the XL version better for Kubota use? or is the standard length sufficient?

The only grease fittings that doesn't work are the ones for the locking pins one the SSQA mount. Don't think the XL could reach them either. Using an extension hose, may go to plumbing dept. and pickup 3-4" short nipples and relocate the zerks - good winter project.
