D650/D750 parts question

I've posted before that I'm trying to reassemble a Kubota from a pile of parts.
The box of engine parts has a mix of D650 and D750 parts. I have a D750 block so I'm working that way.
On the 750 just how important is the compression release for normal starting and use ?
I have a valve cover for a 650 but it doesn't have the release assembly. Can I use it or do I need a 750 cover assembly ?

I would say it's not that imperative to have it, as all the newer D650,D750,D850,D950 didn't have it.

My L275 has a D1302-A 3 cylinder engine in it. It has a compression release on it but I never use it.

The one in my D950 didn't work, I used the tractor like that for 2 years but I wanted to get it fixed.

But after I got my cracked head repaired I don't think I will need it.

I guess it would be nice for using the starter to purge the fuel lines and stuff like that.
