I purchased bucket hooks for my BX2380 and want to know what length chain you recommend? Other than chain? Thank you,
Tom

Length is really all about what you wish to carry and where you are going store it.:D:) Typically a 20' will do most chores too.

I recommend a 5/16" chain - why? it will fit in 3/8" hooks and 1/4" hooks. 5/16" chain has all the working limit strength you should need too!;)

+2 on a 20' length of 5/16" being perfect.
Any longer and most of the time, you'll have to haul the excess about, much shorter and you'll find you need 'just a little more'. I had a 12' length (I have no idea where I got it) and bought a 20' footer. Both chains also have hooks on the ends. Most of the time, I use the 20'.

while I don't have a BX, I keep a 30 foot 5/16" chain with hooks, have 2 hooks, would likely put a third in the center and maybe a clevis point on each side, but I also keep a short length of chain, maybe a foot to 18" 5/16 chain that has my tpost puller mounted to it with some wire. I have a hook on one side of it. I use this little stubby chain quite regularly for tasks other than just a t post, lifting single point lift stuff that the big chain is just a pain to use. the 30 foot is great cause I can move most anything with it. now I also keep on my boxblade for weight as well as when I need a bunch of chain for some odd work, about another 60 feet of chain, however those are 3/8" chain. note I'm using a L4060 though. I highly doubt you would need that much with the BX. I'm with the guys above, 5/16, 20 feet and you'll be happy. I do recommend a little piece though, which can be used as an extension when you need that little bit more.

I've got so many chains of various lengths, I could not imagine trying to determine if one chain link will do all jobs!

Buy what you need for your first project and when you determine you need something different buy that!:D

Eventually you will have what you need.

I find it really handy to have ANOTHER chain about 3' in length with a hook on one end and chain hook on the other. Handy for picking up implements, lifting things etc. The dealer who delivered my tractor and implements gave me the idea as he had one.

Thank you for the helpful responses. What is the difference between a hook and a chain hook? It looks like it makes sense to have a short chain as well as a 20 footer.

a chain hook latches on individual links, the other is just a big open hook, a chain hook has a tight U that barely goes over one link, the other is more like a giant C (just with the chain hooked to one end of the C. just easier to hook objects with than a chain hook.

Some refer to them as a slip hook, and a grab hook

+3 on the 20' 5/16" chain. I keep one in my toolbox aka ammo can on the ROPS and it's come in handy several times, including when I needed to be pulled out from being stuck in the mud.
