Some friendly advice but let me preface this post. I’m posting this for advice for others who may be in a similar situation. I don’t need to hear any replies about the safety of the seat switches.
I thought I would bypass the two safety seat switches by just jumping them out. DON’T DO IT. Not because of the safety factor though. It will short out the OPC fuse and blow it. Tractor clicked but wouldn’t roll over. After a couple hours and reading manuals I finally figured it out. It blew the small 10 amp fuse on the right side underneath the dashboard.

I thought about doing what you did with my BX23, but instead I installed a switch on the dash that disables all the safety switches at once. Gives more flexibility, yet retains the original safety functions. bypass1.jpg bypass2.jpg

I suspect your 'jumper' might have grounded causing the OPC 10A fuse to blow. Electrically a 'jumper' and a 'switch'(when closed) are the same .

That’s a good idea. I really like the cover and light idea for it.
Only thing I would add, is the light would be better if it were in the cover and not hidden when the cover is lowered. Just thinking about how I forget things sometimes...

Seems possible all safeties could be disabled and there would be no indication when the cover is lowered, unless maybe the cover has a window in it on the top...not apparent in the photo.

The seat safety switch was bypassed (jumpered) when I bought my used L48 TLB, and I have never had an issue with anything being shorted out.
Tractor works just fine, and is a wonderful piece of equipment.
I detest seat safety switches....... almost as much as I detest anti-theft car horns!

Another way to bypass the safety switch yet have it reset is to use a relay. The push button engages the relay, the relay wired to stay engaged until power is removed (key switch off). You will never be able to forget to re-engage the safety switches as it will self reset now. You could add a second push button to kill power to the relay too so as to enable resetting of the safety switches and not have to shut the tractor off.

I have short legs, long arms. Sometimes, I lean forward to get my leg to fully depress the HST pedal and that motion sometimes takes weight off the seat whiich in turn cause the tractor to shut down, the jerking motion pushes me more off the seat and ... Think Rube Goldberg. But I have kept the safety features engaged and instead, modified my behavior.

The seat safety switch on my Craftsman riding lawn mower is so sensitive that it shuts down whenever I lean over to pharrt.…🤪

That is not a light, it is a "start the engine ignoring all safety interlocks". I must now go into hiding to avoid detection by the safety police.
So it's a toggle switch to enable to red push button switch, which when pushed then bypasses all the safety interlocks? I think I got it now...:)

Nope. Switch bypasses all safety switches. Red button will engage the starter under any circumstance , including when the engine is running. May have to rethink that feature.
