I just finished sweeping our 2 acre property with one.
They work great, but I,ve got a couple of areas to fix up once I get some topsoil. LOL
The best advise I can give you is set the guide wheels low to keep the sweeper from tearing up your lawn, and the second thing is to make sure you lower the sweeper to the float mode, so it follows the contour of your lawn better, without tearing it up.
Pick a low wind day to do your sweeping.
What I did is blow all the dead grass into wind rows, and then went back with a fork and trailer behind my tractor and picked it all up.
It also works great for cleaning up a paved driveway. For that job, I lifted the wheels up completely, and let it float while cleaning up the driveway.
Start the sweeper when it is up off the pavement, and then lower it to the float position.
