Seeing everyone else's pallet forks and what they do with them made me want a set more and more. The Kubota pallet forks list for $1050 and I would probably never justify spending that much for something I don't really need and switching to SSQA would cost even more. I thought there should be a way to adapt a less expensive set to fit my quick attach, so the forks came in on Friday for $474 from palletforks.com and I was able to get them mounted up this weekend. Turned out pretty good though I thought I could do it a little easier and much faster, took me about 8 hrs longer than I thought it would. I used some 1/4"x6" flat plate I had and bought a piece of 1-1/2" x 1/4 wall DOM for the pin bosses. Had to use a boring tool to expand the holes and ream the DOM.
I planned on cutting the SSQA brackets off the fork frame but it wasn't in my way so I just left it on, if for some reason later I can use them with SSQA the brackets I added can easily be cut out.
Keeping the pin alignment and everything squared up was a challenge but I was able to get the brackets made and welded together with the pins lined up, actually easier to remove than my bucket is.
Got them welded into the frame and they come on and off pretty easy
I believe the mounting brackets I added will hold to capacity, as I probably can only lift about 900 lbs total and the forks weigh 285. Overall it was a pretty fun project but I'm glad I'm done.
Thing I learned the most doing this is I need a few more tools to tackle projects like this
