Want to install a block heater before winter. Does any one know which soft plug to use on this engine block? Photo of the exact location of soft plug would be helpful.
Thanks!
Any will work, as long as they are the right size and they have clearance for the heater, the manual on most Kats heaters will give you the "best" place to install the heater.
Unless you're completely hung on using an insert-type block heater I suggest you consider a lower radiator hose heater.
Also from Five Star Mfg (aka Kats) and a lot easier to install.
Works great; have four in service. Never energize until immersed in water (bucket to test before install or in the hose itself).
35-hp Kubota takes about an hour to bring block up to temp at zero degrees F for a start such that glowplug lamp just flickers for a second or two (enclosed, no wind).
Please post back your experiences so we may all learn.
Thanks for suggestions and info.
Will have the tractor in for the 50 hours service soon, and will have chat with dealer on what they suggest.
Being that this is Tier 4 engine, a quick warm up time in the winter is better than a long one....
Had an extremely cold winter last year in Michigan & may have another with the below average temps so far in 2014.
Will post when heater is installed!
Here are a variety of radiator hose mounted circulating heaters made by Kats so you know its made in the USA quality. This company also offers various block heaters, oil pan heaters, magnetic heaters all kinds of stuff you may need for winter time heating of your machinery and equipment. http://www.autocoolingsolutions.com/products.php?cat=Cooling+System+Heaters
